Sleeping While Seeing A Chiropractor For Stiffness

by For Content

Having a stiffness in your spine can make daily life difficult. Moving around, driving, and performing routine duties, such as light cleaning and walking around at your job, can become a laborious chore. In order to heal your spine and get your body back in alignment, you need to see a chiropractor. You can contact a chiropractor at a place like Preferred Family Chiropractic.

While you are going through the chiropractic treatment, you will also need to make sure that you are comfortable after your treatments. If you are having issues sleeping, here are some ways to sleep when you are going through treatment for a stiff back.

Make your bed a little higher

If you are having trouble getting into bed due to being stiff, the worst thing that you can do is have a bed that sits lower to the ground. Being able to sit on your bed and ease yourself down is easier if your bed is higher in the air. If you currently have a low bed, get a bed frame that allows your bed to sit higher in the air, or add a mattress on top of your current mattress. A higher bed will make it so you do not have to bend over and risk your recuperation.

Invest in a movable mattress

A movable mattress is what you may need in order to get a good night's rest, especially at the beginning of your recovery. A mattress that allows you to adjust the bed up and down will make things easier. When you are still dealing with an injury, you should adjust the bed up so that you can lay down and sleep without having to bend your torso. As you begin to heal, you may be able to lay back and relax a little easier. The adjustable mattress will also give chronic back pain suffers the ability to stretch up in the morning as necessary before getting out of bed.

Stretch every morning when you wake

Every morning when you wake up, get out of bed and stretch. After you have been in bed all night and laying in the same space for eight hours, you may have a hard time rising and moving around. Stretch your upper body in order to loosen your back limbs. It may be uncomfortable to stretch at first, but if the pain is not excessive, you should continue through each step of stretching to make sure you are gaining flexibility and strength.
